远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

Great Expectations tells the story about a young man called Pip. By telling us the childhood and great expectations of Pip, the author Charles Dickens, who was a famous English writer in 19th century showed us how a young man led a life in capitalistic society.
Pip was born in a poor family. He lost his parents as well as five little brothers in his infancy. As a result, he was brought up by his sister and her husband Mr. Joe Gargery.
Mrs. Gargery was really a strong and respectable woman. Although sometimes she was strict and cruel with Pip, she loved him very much. She was forced to do so by life for she had so heavy a burden on her shoulder to make a man out of a boy. Life was hard to her but she never gave up, otherwise Pip and Joe couldn’t manage to go on with life. That was one reason why her death shocked Joe and Pip so deeply.

Joe, from beginning to end, was a true gentle man. He loved Pip very much and gave a lot of help to him. In Pip’s infancy, they were both brought up by Mrs. Gargery by hands. In Pip’s words, they were fellow-sufferers. He always stood with Pip though thus might offend his wife. When Pip found his great expectation, Joe chose to let Pip loose. He wanted Pop to deal with the good fortune all by himself.
He even refused the money Miss Havisham offered him for bringing up Pip. We understand him because we all know that he brought up Pip just for Pip not for money. Joe got married to Biddy at the end of the story . He really deserved happiness.
Pip was the main character of this novel. He had a poor infancy and always sreamt o f becoming rich. He happened to have helped a prisoner who had managed to escape from the prison and needed help badly. Pip might had never thought this would change his life and the prisoner would become

远大前程英文
Dickens is not a writer disdaining women. Instead he loves, respects and takes care of them, however, in his novels, he unconsciously degrades women and puts them inferior to men. This time I want to adopt Great Expectations to evidence my thesis.
Two reasons account for this. The Victorian Age pushed women back to home and indulge in their obedience and docility. An able woman today may be sung highly as a model of independence but male dominated that period even a little bit of rebellion from female world is regarded as the despising of sacred belief. The other one lies in that Dickens, as a well-known and truly successful writer, composes various and popular works.
As a male, his achievement sounds great, which belittles the rest of his contemporaries, let alone the women. His success made him believe in men’s great ability.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

There are three aspects in this novel that I believe this kind of thought of Dickens is revealed.
The first one is that women are fragile. “ Weaker, your name is woman.” Two hundreds ago, Shakespeare authored to the world this unprecedented sentence in Hamlet. Later, Dickens followed this great instruction unconsciously in creating his own works. That is not because that women are in lack of will but that they need surviving abilities and that of self-survival and struggle against destiny.
They always turn to men. That can be called “hero saving the beauty”。 This notion originated in the Greek tales but is still adopted successively. The only difference between them lies in the plot and structure. Estella is adopted and trained to break men’s hearts by Miss Havisham. Havisham revenges men and marries Estella to an unworthy guy though Pip deeply loves Estella.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

Nothing can be bitterer than see his lover married to another guy for a man. Pip really fell into the despair of losing Estella. However, Estella suffers a lot and begins to regret for her initial choice for her spouse and begins to treasure
Then comes my second point. Facing destiny women are physically and intellectually inferior to men. Actually it does not mean they have an inferior intelligence but that it seems so. Or we can say that both men and women have the same potential of intelligence, but women never show a lot. God create everyone equally but not everyone is granted the same approaches to success or achievements.
They are restricted to families, which restrict them from showing a lot. They can cook food well, which is one standard for their excellence but not the one for male’s world. The novel goes this way since it implies the male consciousness. The ordinary intelligence of women in marriage and love is exposed completely. Havisham is abandoned on her wedding day, but she keeps the room like the day she got married, while on the other hand she tries every means to revenge men.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

Bearing these two conflictive thoughts in mind, Havisham certainly fails to live her own life out of the control or influence from male though she se
The discipline for women is my third point. A feminist De Bufuwa says, ‘One is called woman because she is “made” not “born”’。 Culturally woman is the product of society and the result of its strict restrictions. Those women who do not obey the disciplines are not regarded as gracious or good women by social criteria, which emphasizes on families, the responsibilities for their husbands and their dependence on men.
In Great Expectations, Estella and Havisham’s misfortunes are closely attached to love and marriage. They try to revenge men and but they cannot leave men. Estella leaves Pip but at last comes back to him, and Havisham keeps thinking about her marriage day and her the other part, who should come that day, in that gloomy room though she on the other hand revenges men.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

So tracing the track of a decent woman is the priority for women, as revealed in Dickens’ novel, otherwise tribulation falls.
Every period has an outstanding feature, which make descendants linger in mind. Victorian Age passed long ago, but its typical rules for women still work to some extent. To learn this novel can help us in understanding better women’s efforts to stand up. Society presses public to believe in notion that male play a dominant role. Even a feminist will drop into that swirl as she sees more and thinks more.
Havisham can symbolize a feminist but what then? She needs a male accompany. Her ending somewhat is tragic but Estella harvests through a long time, but anyway she wins in depending man and leading a pleasant life.
The above is what I get from the novel in the textbook and to conclude my opinion in one sentence, I should say that women depend on men. That is not my opinion, but what I get. I have to mention that again since I myself am one part of that group and I am not willing to take a subordinate role in both family and society.

《远大前程》英文读后感范文二
In this summer holidays, I read a book called , it was written by Charles Dickens, one of the most famous English writers. He wrote lots of wonderful novels. This book is one of his compositions.
People always like to compare with their friends. It is a big foible of all the people. If other people have a lot of money, we also want to be rich. If all the people around us are poor , we never mind that we are very poor, too. we will not ashamed because of our folly. This is a social problem.
If we never possess anything, we will not mind we lost some thing. Since we don’t want to be very rich ,we will not feel despond because poor.
The protagonist of this novel is Pip (Handel)。 His parents died when he was a baby. His sister had brought him up ‘by hand’。 His sister married to Joe Gargery, the village blacksmith. They didn’t have much money, and Pip never went to school to study. But he was often very happy .Because all of his friends are like him. It isn’t very unfortunate to them, this is their lives.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

But by a chance, Pip helped a convict; he gave much food to him. Then he met Miss Havisham, a very strange old woman and she was very rich.
Four years later, Miss Havisham wants Pip to be removed from his home and educated as a gentleman who expects inherit a fortune when he grow up.
After hearing that . Pip started to despise his poor friends. He even feel ashamed because he live with the poor man . Pip’s ‘great expectations’ destroyed his life.
This novel told us that we cannot compare with others .Don’t feel envy at the others money. And if one day you be very rich , please don’t despise your poor friends.
Thoughts on Great Expectations
During the last month, I have been reading the novel named Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I set up my mind to finish reading it for the simple reason that I have read the Chinese version of this great novel and I was deeply attracted by the story.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

The main character in this novel is Pip and the whole story goes like this: Pip was a orphan and was brought up by his sister “by hand”. His sister Mrs. Joe was very strict with him while his brother-in-law treat him kindly. As a result, the two developed a intimate relationship. Since Pip was asked to visit Miss Havishams’s house, his mind and his fate began to change.
In Miss Havishams’s home, Pip saw her adopted daughter Estella and fell in love with her at the first sight. Then he was determined to be well-educated and become a gentleman in order to deserve the beautiful girl Estella. And much to his delight, he was given a large sum of money and an opportunity to study abroad by an anonymous person. After a period of time, his great expectations came true and he became a gentleman at last.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

However, he found out that the money was offered by the criminal he had saved when he was young. He felt ashamed and didn’t want to use the money any more. What’s worse, the criminal Magwitch escaped from prison to visit Pip and was noticed by the police. At last, Magwitch was sentenced to death and Pip led a normal life. The beautiful lady became a widow as her husband died.
But Pip still loved her and promised to be friends with her all the same. This ending is a bit reaasuring.
Among those several characters in the novel, my favourite is Magwitch. He was homeless and poor when he was young and he used to be put into prison several times. No one cared about him, so when little Pip saved him by giving him some food, he felt moved. And he bore Pip’s help in his mind. When he was exiled overseas, he was determined to make a lot of money and help Pip become a gentleman.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

He worked hard and saved every coin he could, and then sent it to Pip. He did all of these secretly in order to prevent little Pip from being embarrassed. After Pip became a real gentleman, Magwitch returned to England in secret only to see whether Pip had led a good life. What we can find from him is deep love for Pip. Although the society has deserted him, he is not deserted by himself.
Different from Miss Havishams who is black-hearted, Magwitch is like a father. He showed his love to Pip without any hesitation. He was just like Pip’s father. This is why I admire him very much.
Then when I look back into our society, I find that some parents are not as good as the criminal Magwitch. Cases are that parents push their children to work hard in order to be admitted into the college where they were eager to go when they were young. This usually leads to two consequences. One is that the children are exerted too much pressure and they go to extremes.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

The other is that their children do as they are told to and don’t have their independent thinking. They lack the comprehensive abilities to cope with fierce competition in today’s society. In other words, they are likely to survive in this competitive world.
God is equal to everyone. When Magwitch knew that Estella was his daughter and had been loved by Pip, he felt relieved. I am also relieved because one good turn deserves another.
篇二:远大前程英文读后感
Great Expectations is a novel by Charles Dickens, a famous writer from England. It is the story of the orphan Pip’s life.
The character in this novelgave
me the deep impression was Pip.He fell in love with Estella. Educating himself for the girl,Pip studied as hard as he could.
Why did he love Estella so much? Not for her beautiful face, her treasure . Pip paid out so much for the love.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

AlthoughEstella didn"t treat him well and even that she didn"t respect him at all! She put the food for him as a dog,but he didn"t hate her. On the contrary, he left from his home with Pip/s friends. Pip just wanted to be a gentleman.
He abandoned a lot than he got. I can"t understand why he do it in this way. I think it"s not worth at all. If one person don"t like you or not respect you,
you needn"t do everything for her. So it made me quite sad.
I feel sorry for Pip. He had a very difficult life... Miss Havisham is also
a character who left me a deep impression .She was a poor lady. Her mother died young. Her farther was very rich and very proud
with only one child, Miss Havisham, is his first wife.
In fact, Miss Havisham should have a nice life,
but her wedding was destroyed by her fiance.

远大前程观后感英文100锦集96条

He broke her heart and she was angry.
She wanted to retaliate all men. She was really a kind woman. But she chose a wrong way to continue her life. Miss Havisham wanted to hurt other persons.
And she had done. This was not good for her. Only made her feel a little comfortable but there were also more victims in the world.
The above is what I get from the novel in the textbook and to conclude my opinion in one sentence, I should say that people should not depend on others.
