美国女作家玛格丽特·米切尔的长篇小说《飘》，是我喜爱的书之一。我喜欢文中斯佳丽的勇敢坚强，喜欢瑞特的机智果断，喜欢玫兰妮的外柔内刚，喜欢阿希礼的温文尔雅。
《飘》反映了美国南北战争时期，美丽任性的南方大农场主的女儿斯佳丽历经战乱，由骄纵千金成为一家之主，为保护家园，她对内劳苦操作，对外应酬筹措，但深藏于内心的盲目爱情，却未曾动摇。她一直爱着年轻的庄主阿希礼，阿希礼却心仪玫兰妮，当她认识了至爱瑞特时，真爱却疲惫褪尽。斯佳丽回望前尘，想起父亲的遗言：世界之大，不及故园，乃作回乡之举，从此以后人事茫茫，此恨绵绵。
对于斯佳丽这个人物，我的感情是矛盾的，有点反感却又不得不敬佩她。我佩服她的坚强，佩服她对土地的执着，佩服她能在那中环境下放下以前所受的教育下田干活，佩服她能不顾社会上的言论而开创自己的事业。她美丽而任性，并不是一个被大家欢迎的人。她会耍手段，但很坚强，很热情，是个活泼可爱的女人。她喜欢幸福和富裕的生活，她一直在追求自己的理想的爱。但命运不那么简单。她是个非常有个性的人物，她一生中爱了两个男人，而她却没一个是了解的。如果她了解阿希礼，那她就不会爱他；如果她了解瑞特，那她就不会失去他。她一直以来是辜负瑞特的，她只是不停追寻着自己梦中的王子——阿希礼。她只是把自己爱的特点认为阿希礼有，她只是做了一件华丽的衣服，让阿希礼穿上，而后爱上他。而事实是，她爱的只是那件衣服。
我想我们每一个人都会有自己的欲望，每一个人都在追求自己的幸福。“从现在开始，我和我的家人不会再过一天没有东西吃的日子，我最讨厌饥饿。”这就是斯佳丽的欲望，也就是她的精神支柱。她永远充满了希望，充满斗志，永远不会放弃，永远不会绝望，用近乎绝情的冷静，直面残酷的事实。欲望会成为我们的一种动力。这种欲望会促成文化、技术的发展，也会导致犯罪和战争。欲望对我们非常重要。我们会追求自己的幸福，虽然会遇到很多的困难和纠纷，但我们不应该放弃自己的欲望和追求。我们可以休息，但我们决不能放弃。我想她绝对会找回她所失去的。斯佳丽最后一句话是这样的：“我要想办法找回他，一定有办法。但今天我累了，不能想了。明天再想吧！明天再想吧！”她的欲望、她的努力会帮助她找回她的幸福，我想这便是她乐观自强人生的最好表白。

现在作文中，习惯出现李白，杜甫，苏轼等传统的中国文人，你使大部分人都忘却了外国的经典文化。而这正是新颖所在。
读小学的时候中央台就播放过一部经典巨片《乱世佳人》（改自小说《飘》），当时由于年纪小，又不懂英语，觉得不好看，但是女角思嘉丽鲜明的性格却从此给我留下了深刻的印象。后来电视偶尔又重播，也看了一大部份，但都是看不懂。直到读大学的时候学外国文学学到《飘》然后完整地看了一次电影《乱世佳人》，由于是英语系，加上学习了一相关的历史背景，所以看起来明白了很多。当时只是对电影的情节比较吸引。工作又在偶然的机会在电视上又看了两三次整部片，虽然没有更多更深的理解，但是觉得百看不厌。直到昨晚在明珠台又重新看了一次原汁原味的英文版，感觉上又有新的收获和不同的理解，就像有的人说看《三国演义》不同的人生阶段看都会有不同的收获一样。
我爱的人、给了我错觉，最后发现他不是真正爱我，只是我对他太过美化了，是根本不存在的；而真正爱我的人三番四次受到我对他的伤害，当他要离开我的时候我才发现原来在我的潜意识里他对我是那么重要，我真正爱的人、值得我爱的人是他。但是在我如梦初醒的时候一切都迟了。非常感人的一个爱情故事，其实对现实生活中的我们也是有很大的启示的，有时候我们又何尝不像思嘉丽一样混然不知道自己爱的是谁，什么才是值得我们去追求和为之付出的呢。但是这一切都是一种生活经历。
昨天经过千辛万苦找到了一个大学同学的电话，打电话给他谈起他跟大学里的她的续集如何时，他很坦然的说他跟她分开了，虽然经历有点坎坷，但是大家都没有谁埋怨谁，这只不过是生活经历的一部分。我听了也很感慨，人总要成长的，包括处理感情的事，能够做到像他们那样再见亦是朋友的恋人真的不多，我从心理佩服他的理性。不知不觉间原来我们大学毕业已有十年了，十年了，多么想念我亲爱的同学们呀！所以作为班长的我有义务负起责任组织一次同学聚会，否则太对不起同学们了！

这是一部有关战争的小说，但作者玛格丽特没有把着眼点放在战场上。除了亚特兰大失陷前五角场上躺满伤病员那悲壮的一幕外，其他战争场景并没有花费作者过多的笔墨。作为第一部从南方女性角度来叙述美国内战的小说，玛格丽特着重描写了留在后方家里的妇女饱受战乱之苦的体验和感受，从战争伊始对战争怀有崇敬心理、对战争全然的支持，到因战争而带来的失去亲人的痛苦、不得不屈服于失败的命运以及战后立志重建家园的艰辛历程。战争失败了，有的人因此而意志消沉，失去了原有的斗志，无法调整好自己的心态，面对战后支离破碎的生活。反之，另外一些人则克服了失败的心理，凛然面对严酷的现实，成了生活中不畏困难、重新前进在生活旅途上的强者。
《飘》的主题思想很多，写乱世中佳人的命运，写飘然而逝的美国南方文化。主人公的思想和情感深受美国南北战争的影响。战争改变了女人们，她们在战火和硝烟中守护着自己的土地，她们勇敢，坚强，不屈服，因为“Tomorrow is another day”。
关于人生的善与恶，我不敢妄加评论，因为，毕竟我走的人生路还不及三分之一。二十多岁的我，想法也许是很幼稚的。平心而论我也有点同情郝思嘉，对于其“不择手段“式的“自私钻营”，或许那些是她不得已而为之的权宜之计，都是为了生存。不过静静想想也确实如此，在郝思嘉所处的那个动荡变革的时代，一个弱女子根本无法养活一个家庭、一帮朋友也保不住父亲留下的陶乐。郝思嘉通过用斤斤计较的赚来的钱，通过各种“残酷手段”，换得了自己的新生，换得了朋友家族的新生。
另一方面，郝思嘉对待媚兰也是很好的，是极尽关爱的。可能这其中是出于对卫希礼的爱而爱屋及乌，但到了后来则完全不是。这两个性格完全不同的女人，却达成了一生一世的友谊，实在是一种奇迹。
虽然《飘》只是小说，但是通过读《飘》，我也对美国的南北战争也有了更进一步的了解。从历史角度判断，北方战胜南方，是一种历史的进步，是社会发展的必然。但是通过读《飘》后，我们能看到从道德判断来看，南方奴隶制中也有温情也有情谊，北方对南方进行的战争从某种程度上也是一种侵略，摧毁着南方的秩序和关系，在某些方面反而激化了白人和黑人的种族冲突。

读完了整本书，我也摘出了自己最喜爱的两句话：
“美貌并不能使人高尚，衣着也不能使人尊贵。”——警告贪慕虚荣的人。
“我向来不是那样的人，不能耐心地拾起一些碎片，把它们黏合在一起，然后对自己说这个修补好了的东西跟新的一模一样。一样东西破碎了就是破碎了——我宁愿记住它最好时的模样，而不想把它修补好，然后终生看着那些碎了的地方。”
一遍匆匆的略读，并不能体味多少真谛，也许，等我再读几遍时，会有更多的收获吧。

将疲惫的目光从书本抽离，缓缓合眸，此时的我内心跌宕起伏……在作者玛格丽特·米切尔的笔下，我看到了如飘絮般梦幻的主人公——郝思嘉坎坷的心路历程。
活力，在端庄优雅且被调皮地驯服的外表下，有着一颗野火般的心，正所谓“眼睛是心灵的窗户”她的炽热与任性通过那双眼则一览无遗。当之无愧成为全县第一美人，当之无愧是舞会的宠儿！
真实，在当时的那个年代，女人总是表现一副“弱不禁风”的娇小模样，晚宴上的冰激淋，舞池里的婀娜多姿，淑女们必须只吃一点点，只跳一支舞之后来假扮柔弱。但她并没有真正做到淑女该做的这些。无意间的大块朵頣，无意间的热情奔放，毫不矫情，毫不造作——一个真实的自己。
睿智，战争的爆发使得人心恐慌，敌人胜利在望！她，骑着瘦弱的小马车，带着孕妇和仆人，逃过一道道封锁线，跨过重重障碍回到家乡！然而，“一个秩序井然的世界已经成为过去，取而代之的是一个残酷的社会。在这个社会里，所有的标准和价值观都变了！”但生活的艰辛与双亲的去世，并不能打她压垮，以往的淑女作风因为现实而不复存在！她不顾他人的闲言碎语撑起一个家，白晳细嫩的双手如今已布满老茧。头脑依旧冷静，目光依旧犀利，好似看穿乱世风云，她，一个堪为现代经典的女强人。
牺牲，为了家庭生计，她再度与自己不相爱的人结婚。事业的`如日中天使她成为商人们憎恶的对手，使她成为妇女们所指责的对象——一个不守妇道的女人，她的一生，似乎只剩下牺牲。

执着，少女的心怀总怀春，她一旦爱上了，就会不顾一切地去争取，当对方宣布成婚的消息时，她可以毅然决然地在对手结婚的前一天闪电结婚，一个不甘示弱的女人！到了后来，她遇到了属于自己的真爱，但真爱即将离她远去的时候，她会竭尽全力找回自己的幸福，并充满期待。一个勇敢执着的女人。
我向往着这个女人的传奇，在一夜中迅速成长，挑起生活的重担，我需要这样的历练和挫折。人生就是需要这样或那样的挑战，在困难中成熟，一步步靠近梦想，我要一份勇气、胆量与头脑，在现实生活中成为第二个郝思嘉。
夜，美得让人忘记时间，星，闪得让人忘记钻石的存在。我伴着这无人问津的夜，将《飘》记在这美丽的夜里。

我看过的书中，主角大都是善良的，为别人着想的人，可这本书中的斯嘉丽却不一样，我可以体会到他的自私与虚荣，表里不一，不得不承认，刚开始我还不能接受他，但是谁又能十全十美？从当时美国南部落下后的环境中，斯嘉丽却显得更大胆也聪明，当时的女性普遍唯唯诺诺，但他却不受影响，同时，南北战争前夕，南部的民风和生活习俗也栩栩如生。
瑞德说过斯嘉丽和自己是一样的人，他们都同样的虚伪和自私，不过他们也同样坚强和勇敢，作者用了有强烈对比和程度很强的词语把瑞德的狡猾形象地表达出来了。《飘》是一部世界名著的原因之一，或许是他关于南北战争的描述太真实了，从打仗的南部联盟的士兵，到经历战争的人的内心想法，南方人从一开始的士气满满到连连败下阵来，伤员不断增多，一切都浸泡在苦海中似的，不过它内容的精彩不仅仅如此，更重要的是斯嘉丽不易察觉的蜕变，她娇嫩的手起满水泡，虚假的温柔也几乎消失，就像翻阅相册般阅读这本书，每一页都能体现它的顽强和智慧。
就这一句话，作者玛格丽特·米切尔，就把斯嘉丽的巨大变化描写出来了，一个人的变化可以是快的，就像斯嘉丽，可以说是剧变，那么快的原因可能是他本人有面对现实的勇气和毫不怯懦，我不能用道德去评价他，也还不是全心的喜欢她，但我承认，思嘉丽是一个与众不同充满魅力的勇敢的女人。斯嘉丽的情感曲折，两次婚姻都不是为了感情，让她为了钱和生计操劳时，许多人都不理解他，但她却是其中能面对现实的很少一部分。

《飘》到了尾声，让人读起来却很不好受，斯嘉丽和瑞德不断的误会彼此，到了最后也没有解除，最后是指一方的感情已经消耗完了，在译者开头曾说过，作者采用倒叙的方法，结局是早已定好的，这个结局是开放性，但不如悲剧，我感觉这两个人的感情永远是一个谜，这部小说是爱情经典，我认为不应该只读一遍，我将会读二遍至三遍，第一次接触它，它告诉了我，爱情不仅仅是感情的事，同时两个人的思想，背景要相似才能有机会更幸福，第二，人应该更深刻地了解自己，明白自己的内心想法，虽然理解的幼稚，也不完全正确，但能从这本书获得新的看法，有新的感受，也是幸运的事。

《飘》是全球范围内最畅销的世界文学名著之一。这本书因被改编拍成电影，故又名“乱世佳人。”是美国著名作家玛格丽特·米切尔创作的一部具有浪漫主义色彩的爱情故事。而我看完之后，最喜欢的是思佳。问她的不幸而伤感，也为她的幸运而感动。
1861年美国南北战争爆发前夕，塔拉庄园的小姐思佳爱上了“十二以上”庄园主的儿子阿什利，但阿什利却选择了她的表妹梅兰妮。出于嫉恨，思佳嫁给了梅兰妮的哥哥查尔斯。内战爆发后，应征入伍的查尔斯不幸去世，并与之结了婚。而后不久，弗兰克为了报复一个白人和一个黑人对思佳的袭击，瞒着思佳与阿什利等人去参加“三K党”的行动，不料，都陷入了军队设下的圈套，死于这场行动中，思佳再次成为寡妇。后来，他接受了一直深爱她，为她做了很多事的白瑞特的求婚，但婚后的思佳并没有忘掉阿什利，他对阿什利的情感被白瑞特发现，导致感情出现了裂痕，二人最终分居，而当思佳想向梅兰妮袒露自己的过错时，宽容的梅兰妮阻止了她，保护了她和阿什利的名誉。经过一系列的家庭变故，思佳最终决定守在她的土地上重新创造新的生活，期盼美好明天的到来。
女主人公思佳是幸运的，但同时也是不幸的。幸运的是出身在一个环境较好的家庭里，几经变故仍有默默守护她的白瑞特，守护她的挚爱。而在战乱的年代，二次成为寡妇，束缚了她的天性，毁掉了她对爱的向往和期待，因而又是不幸的。

我喜欢小说中的梅兰妮。喜欢她的宽容；喜欢她的善良；喜欢她的处事方式。
我也喜欢女主人公思佳，喜欢她面对困难时的勇于迎接；喜欢她面对责任时的勇于承担；喜欢她面对爱情时的勇于追求。
而令我感触颇深的还是白瑞特的守护因思佳对阿什利无法忘怀而气愤离去这个情节，它让我感触到：要珍惜眼前人，善于发现那些不计回报且无私守护、帮助你的人，切莫等到失去再后悔，世上没有后悔药可买，也没有可以让时光倒退的机器。我们总是忽略了的身边的温暖，并且伤害了这份温暖和美好。让我们一起携手并进，对未来充满信心，共同铸造属于自己的辉煌人生。

思佳丽，这一在美国动荡年代所诞生的出色的人物，她的优秀个性散发出无穷的光芒。她勇敢坚强，乐观向上，对生活顽强抗争，从不屈服。她处事雷厉风行，精明能干。最突出的一点就是她对爱情的执着。她所拥有天使般的脸蛋和魔鬼般的身材——用修饰中国古代美女的话那就是沉鱼落雁，闭月羞花——使得多少青年男子拜倒在她的石榴裙下。然而她对这些毫不在乎，她对爱情疯狂的执着。但是出于无奈，她分别嫁给了两个自己不喜欢的人。当再一次见到她钟爱的艾希礼时，依然像少女般疯狂地爱着他，不顾一切的向他倾诉钟情。这让我想到了中国封建时代的女子对爱情忠贞的另一种表达方式。对于她，我是不得不佩服的，佩服她的坚强，佩服她对土地的执着，佩服她能在那中环境下放下以前所受的教育下田干活，佩服她能不顾社会上的言论而开创自己的事业。
她生命有几个灵魂，一个是她的母亲。他的母亲是一位非常能干、温柔的典型贵夫人，是她最敬佩的人。可是，母亲为了救人而被传染伤寒，去世了。另一个，是她十几年来最爱的人——阿希礼。她能在逆境中站起来，有很大一部分原因就是阿希礼。她对阿希礼是异常执着的。还有一个，就是玫兰妮。在一起奋斗的十几年里，玫兰妮已经成为她生命中不可缺少的一部分了。

斯佳丽是个矛盾体，可又有谁不是矛盾体呢？她在生命的道路上一路走来，当她面对困难时，她选择迎接，当她面对责任时，她选择担负，可当她面对爱的抉择是，起初，他选择蒙蔽自己，当她终于认清，要面对时，却已为时已晚。而她，在无能为力时，就会告诉自己，明天是新的一天，明天一切都会好了，Tomorrow is another day.她在整个故事中，都是个充满生气、充满斗志的人。我最欣赏的，便是她的这句“Tomorrow is another day”。永远充满了希望，充满斗志，永远不会放弃，永远不会绝望。这份精神，是最值得我学习的。

偶然在书店看到了《飘》这本书，被名字所吸引，便买了下来。于是我便初识了思嘉。
我对思嘉的印象开始并不好，甚至觉得她实在不像一本小说里女主应该有的样子。她自私，虚荣，心机跟我印象里的“好女孩”完全沾不上边。
她的美，是她骄傲的资本，也是她的利刃。她就像一朵看似美丽却有着致命剧毒的花儿一样，在世间大摇大摆地招摇过市散发着迷惑人心的香气，让无数人拜倒在她的石榴裙下。
我一直认为这样的女人是可怖的，却是后来才发现这是她身处乱世的保护色。
尖刺下是她那颗依旧鲜活而跳动的心脏，有少女应该有的东西：善良，单纯，爱。也有不同于别的女子的勇敢，坚韧。
南北战争时，为了对心上人的一句承诺而在处境已经很危险的时候，没有抛弃媚兰——她心上人的妻子，一个她曾经瞧不起的长相普通、身材瘦小、性格温顺、毫无个性的女人。
在她要分娩的时候，在发现原本信誓旦旦地说会接生的黑奴，只不过是说谎之后。她抛弃了一个大小姐本应该的娇贵，放弃了对媚兰的讨厌，嫉妒，仇恨。果断地替她接生，在孤立无援的昏暗房间里，她在我的心里也有了不同的一面。
还有之后面对军官们的淡定，从容，大胆。
和不顾所有人目光，从丈夫手里接过工厂，而成为那个年代“不应该存在”的女商人时的自信，坚强。

不得不承认，她敢做的，是很多女孩子想都不曾想，也做不到的。
她何尝不算是个女英雄？不同于木兰，替父从军；不同于穆桂英为了家族国家。也许在好多人看来她是比不上她们的。但是我觉得她作为一个普通女子，一本小说女主，她的的确确是要让人刮目相看的。
她为了自己而活，一切都顺从自己的本心。在那个闭塞的年代，勇敢打破种种约束与偏见为自己而活。
《飘》也叫《乱世佳人》，《乱世佳人》这个名字更直观地总结了这本书的内容。乱世之中烽烟动荡，人心惶惶，黑与白在那个年代都变得不容分辨。她是尘埃中走出的佳人，美丽，高傲，勇敢并心存善良。
我承认我最后被这样一个“奇女子”所打动，对于思嘉这样一个女子，你可以说不喜欢，却不能不对她感到佩服。

放假前语文课上老师的一句话：“《飘》是以美国南北战争为背景的爱情小说的经典之作，主人公斯嘉，美丽，自私，勇敢，执著，坚强，不受约束的真实个性，很是值得大家认真一读。”勾起了我对这本书的阅读欲望。两天的时间，我仅用两天的时间将它从头至尾仔细的看了一遍，不说废寝忘食，至少也叫得上是如痴如醉。我被主人公斯嘉的美丽、勇敢、不管不顾、自由、执着吸引；我对斯佳面对困难所表现出来的大无畏精神佩服；对她有时为达目的而不择手段而愤恨；对她对白瑞特的爱和默默付出感而不觉而惋惜；对白瑞特最后的离开表示遗憾……
我承认斯嘉很自私，她可以为了泄愤勾引了已有未婚妻的查理，哪怕她对他无一点爱意，只是为了自己的任性而已。为了获得拯救塔拉的税金，她宁愿去找他深恶痛绝的瑞德，并以嫁给他为代价，知道得不到好处后，他又用欺骗的手段抢了自己妹妹的男朋友弗兰克，而不顾妹妹的痛苦和羞辱，这只是为了钱。
但是我们从斯佳身上看到更多的却是刚强，永不服输，无论是面对战争、母亲和父亲的去世、还是女儿的夭折，她都是最刚毅、最坚韧的一个。就是在小说的末尾，虽然生活给了她一个沉重的记忆，但她却依然努力活着，为着希望，勇敢面对未来。

斯嘉身上另一个让人难忘的的就是她的执着。对艾希礼的爱情就是最好的证明她从来没有放弃过对他的爱，然而也正因为这种坚持让斯嘉失去了那本应属于她的爱，白瑞德一直深爱着她但她却一直陷在艾希礼的爱情中不能自拔，当斯嘉认清她一直以来所追求的仅仅是虚幻是光环时，她却失去了瑞德的爱！这就是小说中可悲的斯嘉，她无法把握、珍惜眼前的幸福，她用一生的精力和情感去追求一个光环，最后留下的是永远的痛苦永远的悔恨，一切都随风飘逝。现实生活中又何尝没有像斯嘉这种情形呢？我们身边已经拥有的幸福友情、亲情我们是否用心去体会了？不然的话我们是否也会像思嘉那样留下永远的遗憾？
当然这本书让我印象最为深刻的还是再熟悉不过的那句话：“明天又是新的一天。”我们要时刻饱含对未来的希望，哪怕面前有再大的困难，也不能因为一时的失败便认定了终生的失败，人只有像思嘉那样坚强、勇敢、自强不息、充满希望才能创造一片崭新的天地。

《飘》是我最喜欢的外国小说之一，书的作者是米切尔。它是一部取材于美国南北战争和战后的小说.去年看《飘》这本书时已是看第三遍，书中人物个性很鲜明，所以给我留下很深的印象。
主人公思嘉坚强、乐观、精明、自私、冷酷、为了金钱不择手段。她的精神之柱就是爱情、土地、金钱。思嘉的悲剧在于她一直搞不清楚谁才是自己的真爱，思嘉失去了那本应属于她的爱情,瑞德一直深爱着她,但她却一直陷在艾希礼盲目的爱情中不能自拔,直到最后媚兰去世时她醒悟到自己和瑞德才是一种人时,但瑞德已心灰意冷,从此离她而去...很喜欢思嘉，虽然她自私冷酷，但她的心不坏，她爱护她家的仆人，她把他（她）当小孩一样保护，她更爱她的红土地，在那种战乱特殊的年代里，因为生存的需要，所以我大多数看到的是她的优点。
主人公瑞德狡诈、冷酷、倔强、精明、眼光锐利。他被思嘉坚强敢爱敢恨的性格所吸引并深爱着她，在战乱中一直照顾她，像宠孩子一样宠着她。他最容不得是思嘉讲假话和思嘉对艾希礼的感情。他鄙视艾希礼的懦弱，但他又最理解同情在那个战乱年代里的艾希礼。当他对思嘉的感情感到失望时，他把所有的爱都给了他的女儿邦尼.当邦尼死后他离开了思嘉回到查乐斯顿去与家族和解...

另外我最喜欢的人物就是媚兰了，她外柔内刚，善良博爱，灵魂高尚.是瑞德的心目中最伟大的女性。当然我想信她也是读者心目中最伟大的女性。
文章最后以思嘉的一段内心独白结束：“……明天我要想出个办法来重新得到他，不管怎么说，明天就是另外一天了“。之所以有这个结尾的伏笔，后来作者里普利写了《飘》的续集《斯佳丽》。昨天在网上搜索到了，现正在拜读中...
还有一直听说《飘》的电影版非常好看，译名为《乱世佳人》，此电影得到奥斯卡奖，可一直没机会看到，上周听一个同事讲在土豆网站可以看到此电影，所以周日花了近4小时看完了它。确实很棒！

I first read it in a summer. I did not finish it at a single sitting. All were over: trouble was over; lives were over;
hopes were over. I was shocked how such a small book could contain such a complicated story. Never were wars, diseases and starvation ever nakedly exposed to me like this. The turns in plots were surprising but natural.

It was a tragedy: Just as its name suggested, everything was gone with the wind, including families touch, friends support, sweethearts gaze and youth with vigour. The story reminds us of valuing all we were possessing. A life lasts for a short time and anything in it lasts shorter. We always lose something unconsciously and then feel regretful when we need them later.
Characters in the story were so vivid as if they had been going to jump out of the story, as if they had been existed in the real life at first.
“Land is the only thing in the world that amounts to anything, for ‘this the only thing in this world that lasts, and dont you be forgetting it this the only thing worth working for, worth fighting for——worth dying for.” Said Gerald, an Irish man who loved his soil more than his own life, let us know that life can be born out of land.

Though those she loved were all gone, she was still full of hope. When Rett didnt love her anymore and wanted to lea一ve her, she said “I mustnt bawl… even if he doesnt love me.” A womans dignity could be seen from what she ha一ve said and done.

Thats why I appreciate her.
This novel ga一ve me too much to think about and I can not fully express myself in English. It is true that reading an origin is more vivid than the translated ones. However, my English level limits me to understand the origin well without the translated. But I will work hard in order to understand better.
The novel is my treasure, forever, because I find myself in Scarlett and find the world I live in inside the story.

The story happened during the Civil War eve.Scarlett O"Hara,a 16-year-old girl,who was living in Tala manor in Georgia,was loving her neighbor Ashley Wilkes.However,after the war have broken out, Ashley Wilkes married his yonger cousin Melanie. Scarlett was so angry that she decided to marry a man she didnt really love---- Charles Hamilton.Not long after that, Charles Hamilton joined the Army and died of illness in the war.
So Scarlett had to act as a widow.Afterwards,at a donating dance party,Scarlett is acquainted with a captain named Rhett Butler. Then the flames of war approached Atlanta.Everyone was busy leaving away from the war.Scarlett managed to escape from Atlanta with the help of captain Rhett.Having come back to Tala manor,Scarlett made up her mind to rally her homeland at any cost when she saw that the former manor had been ruined.

Later,her second husband died in the fight,she was a widow again.Durling that time, Rhett had been loving Scarlett sincerely and warmly.Seeing that Rhett could help her rally the manor,Scarlett married him.Although Rhett had similar characteristic attracting her,Scarlett still loved Ashley.Later,their only daughter died accidently,Rhett left Scarlett sorrowly.
And then Scarlett realized that Rhett was the only one who could fall in love with her.
The novel takes the US Civil War as the background.It takes Scarletts individual activity as the thread.The book show us a tragic love story .A couple who could have a perfect future,but finnally go in opposite direction.As a matter of fact,their charactristics have decided their tragic result inevitably.We feel sorry about the end because we are looking forward to a perfect end,just like Scarlett and Rhett.

I affirm Rhett.He brings excitement to Scarletts life and encourages her impulse to change and succeed.Like Scarlett,he goes after what he wants and refuses to take ‘no for an answer.He is humorous,intelligent and cynical with a hint of treason.He is really a respectable man.I think he finnally left because of love .Otherwise,he couldnt have gone without hesitation.
Ashley Wilkes is the foil to Rhetts dark, realistic opportunism.If there was no Civil War,he is surely a nobility of grace and charm.But history cannot be changed.He bocame a victim of the war.His era was gone with the defeat of the war.At the same time,we cannot deny the fact that he had a chear understanding about reality,which just contribute to his tragedy.
In this book,what I appreciate most is not Melanieskindness or Rheets dedication and patience,but Scarletts courage to throw her long-standing morality and tradition whe faced with diffiiculties.At the beginning of the war,she didnt care about this.In her world are endless dinner parties and dance parties.In her body are her fathers brave Irish blood and her mothers noble French pure blood.

She had a vast farm as her home.She had hundreds of slaves.This is Scarlett.,a member of noblity,proud and different.However,the war changed everything.Her mother died of illness.Her father become silent and the farm was nearly deserted.Even food became a big problem.All the pressure was put on Scarletts shoulder.She must feed a family of 9 people in it.
What a big difference of level.If all this happened to someone else,he or she may choose to escape.On the contrary,Scarlett choose to face the change of life bravely.How can we not admire her courage of to change herself.Life is like a mountain.The road cant be completely smooth.When we fall down from the peak,we may get hert ,we may get disappointed,we may feel despair.

Recently, I have read the famous novel “Gone with The Wind” by Margaret Mitchell. Each character in this book gave me a great impression.
At beginning of the book, I think Scarlet was a beautiful, lucky woman. So many young men were in love with her and they always stayed around her. But in fact ,Scarlet was not the lucky woman I thought . She was fell in love with Ashley Wilkes, but the man was not like the other boys around her. when then news came that Ashley would be married with Melanie ,she felt surprised and even couldn’t accept the fact.
With the psychology of revenging Ashley, Scarlett married to Melanie’s brother before the day of Ashley’wedding.
Soon after the war broke out , many young man died ,including Scarlett’s husband. Scarlett became a widow. She couldn’t stand the boring life, so when Melanie invited her to the home of Charles’s aunt. Without more consideration ,Scarlett left for Atlanta.

One time hospital hold a party to collect contributions. Then at the party ,she met Rhett buther, the man who loves her at first sight. Although Scarlett didn’t show any good feeling to him, Rhett buther always companied her and made her happy. For several reasons, she married again,but Rhett still loved her. When her second husband died, he asked Scarlett married him.
Because he believed that he understoodher and he can bring her happy. After several month ,they got married. Their life became better and happier. Later they had a litte daughter, Bonnie. Rhett loved his lovely daughter just like the way he loved Scarlett. But Scarlett still loved Ashley. Unfortunitily, Bonnie died when she rided the horse. Rhett was hurt so badly that he couldn’t stand living with Scarlett,and he decided to leave.

At this time she realised that the man she really loved was Rhett, not Ashley. She tried hard to persuard Rhett not to leave her. He left .I think it was a pity, but it doomed. Although Rhett love her so much ,he could do everything to make her happy, but she never opened her heart to him and tried to understand him.
Although Scarlett’s love was end up with tragedy. But from her attitude for life,we could know that she was a strong woman.she never gave up facing endless difficulties.when the war was terrible, everything was in confusion ,Scarlett had to take Melanie left back to home, the Tara Plantation. Hopefully she wanted her parent’s help. But to her surprise, her mum had died and her father was out of normal.
Situation have became more difficult. While Melanie was going to give birth to a baby. Scarlet made her mind on taking on the task. In order to keep living ,Scarlett even went to work on farm ,she planted cotton. Melanie was in poor health, but she still went to help Scarlett to do farm work. She believed Scalett and gave her unselfish love. With Menlanie’s love,Scarlett supported her home,but at this time ,she still didn’t realize how important Melanie for her.

In order to solve the problem of the Tara plantation,she married to Frank. In order to make a living she also did business which was unbelievable for women in this time. She struggled with countless difficulties, but she never gave up. She still believed “Tomorrow is a new day”。
Another girl that I loved in this book is Melanie,she was very kind and gentle. She never doubted the relationship between Scarlett and Ashley, she always standed in the side of Scarlett. Although Scarlett hated her and even wanted her to die. She still believed Scalett and treated Scarlett as her best friend. Melanie loved her husband ,when her husband was fighting in the war, she always waited for him.
She didn’t have the strength to give birth, but she still wanted to have a baby for Ashley, finally, she died.

These three main characters in the book are all very obvious, but different. They gave me a impression. Scarlett was a plain girl, but what she did was not plain. She didn’t stay silent during the war, she changed her own life by strugling. In fact, many people lost what they have like Scarlett,but they all gave up to strive for the happiness that essentially belonged to them.
Scarlett have the braveness to change the situation. But the pity was that she didn’t recognize the real love belong her in time. If she could got deep understanding of Ashley, she may not love him.
