3）王权下的牺牲
歌谣“Cutty Wren"
认为这首童谣是王权下宗教牺牲的表现。这种说法是认为《谁杀死了知更鸟》是起源于英国传统民歌“Cutty Wren"（及衍生作品——The Hunting of the Wren等）。Wren也是一种鸟，可以翻译做鹪鹩，是一种小小的、胖胖的、萌萌的家伙，被古代英国人认为是“百鸟之王”。“Cutty Wren"一般反应的是人民为了王的牺牲。
也有说法认为“Cutty Wren"是与1381年的英国农民起义有关，鹪鹩就是年轻的英国Richard二世；他最终被杀死。

这是1776年Cutty Wren的无名文本，也是现在最早的文本。
4）威廉二世之死的映射
威廉二世，征服者威廉的儿子，又被成为红脸威廉（William Rufus or William the Red），最大的特点是其脸颊发红。
其于1100年新森林打猎时的意外死亡。他被一箭穿心而射杀。但事情的真实情况至今不得而知。
