穷奇的形象有两种主要的说法，一是外貌像虎、大小同牛、长有翅膀，一是外貌像牛、长着刺猬的毛发，但穷奇爱吃人是公认的。穷奇看见有人打架，就要吃掉正直有理的一方；听说某人忠诚老实，就要咬掉那人的鼻子；听说某人作恶多端，反而捕杀野兽馈赠。因而认为穷奇是惩善扬恶的凶兽。花城开鬼市救助群鬼，又挑战天庭、火烧文武三十三神庙，救鬼惩神，也是某种意义上的“惩善扬恶”了。
The image of Qiongqi has two main statements. One is that it has appearance like tiger and size like cattle with wings. The other is that it has appearance like cattle with hedgehog hair. But indisputably, it likes to eat people. When it sees people fighting, it will eat the one who is upright and reasonable. When it hears someone loyal and honest, it will bite off his nose. When it hears someone do all kinds of evil, it will kill beasts as gifts instead. Therefore, Qiongqi is recognized as a demon punishing the good and helping the evil. Hua Cheng opens Ghost Market and help ghosts, while challenging the heaven realm and firing the temples of 33 gods. In all, save the ghosts and punish the gods, so in a sense, punish the good and help the evil.
